Herefordshire and Worcestershire Group Training Association (HWGTA) is an employer led, not for profit training provider offering bespoke apprenticeships and training to local businesses and communities. HWGTA has over 50 years of experience in delivering excellent training across the two counties, consistently rating above the national average for learner success rates, holding “Outstanding” grading from Ofsted and maintaining successful, long-term relationships with local employers.
The Association was formed in 1967 by local Herefordshire employers to combine their efforts in the training of Engineering Apprentices. HWGTA has since developed the training delivery available to include apprenticeships in Accountancy, Business Administration, Customer Service and Management. In 1999 the Association extended the training provision into Worcestershire, forming HWGTA as we know it today, rated as “one of the best providers of bespoke apprenticeships” – Ofsted 2016.
HWGTA is unique in its employer led approach; with local business leaders heading up the voluntary board of directors, the training model adapts and continuously improves to fit the needs of local businesses. HWGTA manage the recruitment of apprentices, matching them with local employers and qualifications relevant to their industry and job role. Training is delivered via blended learning methods and tailored to the needs of the Employer, coupled with a dedicated monitoring officer assigned to each learner to support them on their apprenticeship journey in the workplace. Engineering Apprentices spend their first year in the fully equipped training centres, learning an array of skills which they take into the workplace during the remainder of their apprenticeship. During the Covid-19 "lockdown" HWGTA kept an amazing 96% of Apprentices in learning with excellent co-operation from employers and learners in embracing the adjustments to the training delivery.
To compliment the Outstanding apprenticeship delivery, HWGTA offer accredited training across a variety of subject areas to assist individuals and employers with maintaining and developing on existing skills. Courses in Leadership & Management are extremely well received, with our trainers really bringing out the potential in the leaders of tomorrow. Also available are Health, Safety & Wellbeing subjects such as First Aid, IOSH, Mental Health Awareness and Fire Warden training.
HWGTA are delighted that further incentives are on offer to businesses hiring apprentices as part of the Government’s “plan for jobs”. These incentives will help to support local employers as they provide opportunities for people beginning the first phase of their careers.
HWGTA have a new user-friendly website facilitated by the team at V8 Media, who worked closely with the Association to modernise the website provision without losing the business ethos. HWGTA are pleased to have the facility to book courses online whilst continuing to provide valuable information on apprenticeships to Employers, Apprentices and and Parents/Carers.
